Phil and Josh spend a good amount of the opening portion of GSP Episode 70 discussing the Lewis Hamilton vs Max Verstappen clash at Stowe, which saw the World Driver's Championship leader go off hard and the seven-time World Champion takes his 8th win at Silverstone. The guys go over the race itself, the Sprint, midfield battle and more as F1 prepares for the summer break.
The 2021 SRX Finale at Nashville Fairgrounds came down to the defending Cup champion (Clyde) vs. the first SRX champion (Smoke) but Awesome Bill from Dawsonville may have had the best ride of the entire evening after five weeks of being stuck in a broken car. Do the words of Clyde play a role in whether the Fairgrounds return to the Cup schedule sooner than later?
In NASCAR, Aric Almirola gets out of season purgatory with his first Cup victory at a non-plate track. How does this affect the points standings and what does it mean for Almirola/SHR? Well before the race was shortened, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex, Jr. were adversely affected by a horrible management call by NASCAR letting the race continue in the wet. The guys discuss the #consistentlyinconsistent #selectiveenforcement of the sport and how that makes it harder to trust the sanctioning body regarding safety and changes in general.

After celebrating our supposed Independence, Phil and Josh went over the weekend that was in motorsports for Episode 68 of the Grip Strip Podcast. William Clyde Elliott continued his road racing dominance at Road America and Josef Newgarden won on the 50th anniversary of Penske Racing's first IndyCar win (Pocono 1971 with Mark Donahue) at Mid-Ohio after another masterclass. Max Verstappen continued his charge to a first World Driver's Championship with a Grand Slam in the Austrian Grand Prix.
The guys break down all the key moments and standouts along with the points leading into the next races, even if it's a month away (for IndyCar). Phil and Josh spent time on the exploits of George Russell and how productive he has been in recent races for a Williams team that hasn't been competitive for many years. Will GR63 get the second Mercedes ride alongside the recently re-signed Lewis Hamilton?
The guys discussed SRX and the events at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis (AKA Indianapolis Raceway Park) which saw seven-time Trans-Am champion Ernie Francis, Jr. get his first win in the series before having to drive up to Road America for an early morning race.
For this week's roundup, recaps of W Series and F3 at Austria, WSBK at Donington along with previews of Supercars at Townsville and Formula E in Brooklyn. Discussion of the Atlanta reconfiguration was combined with previewing the Cup/XFinity races along with the Trucks racing at Knoxville for the first time. After a busy week of motorsports worldwide, Phil and Josh return for Episode 67 of the Grip Strip Podcast. They discuss Max Verstappen's destruction of the F1 field at the Styrian GP along with the struggles of Lewis Hamilton. NASCAR at Pocono actually saw Hard R lose a couple of races with a blown tire allowing Alex Bowman through on Saturday and Kyle Busch on Sunday. Cindric and John Hunter continue their path to their respective NASCAR titles too.
The Roundup goes over MotoGP/Moto2 at Assen, W Series returned at Red Bull Ring for two consecutive rounds there, and American Sabre Cook on the grid. IMSA doubled up at Watkins Glen with the 6 Hours and the Weathertech 240, F3 at Red Bull Ring, and World Superbike at Donington Park.
The guys preview the Austrian Grand Prix for F1, IndyCar at Mid-Ohio, and NASCAR Cup/XFinity at Road America before Josh's sim segment and show close.

After Kyle Busch's colorful description of his car Sunday at Nashville Superspeedway, Phil felt it was a great way to go over this weeks motorsports landscape on the GSP. Phil and Josh go over Max Verstappen getting another victory in the French GP after great teamwork by Red Bull and strategy made up for a rare error by the current points leader. The guys discuss who they believe is in front at the moment and what Mercedes must change for Lewis Hamilton to take the fight to Red Bull in Austria along with the midfield battle.
IndyCar at Road America was a Josef Newgarden masterclass...until it wasn't after a late-race caution for Ed Jones. Alex Palou was the beneficiary and regained the points lead in the process while teammate Scott Dixon stayed within striking distance. Phil and Josh go over the good, bad and ugly of a competitive race and weekend at one of America's best race tracks.
NASCAR at Nashville continued the trend of Kyle's (Larson and Busch) winning and dominating. Larson won his 4th race of 2021 while Clyde got DQed for loose lugnuts. Issues for multiple drivers regarding brakes and tires came up during the day which were the only things that slowed down the Yung Money train. Busch earned his 100th XFinity win and only has two more races this year till a possible retirement from that series. Ryan Preece earned his first career Truck Series win for DGR to provide greater momentum and data to the young drivers on that team while John Hunter Nemechek struggled.
SRX saw Tony Stewart earn his first victory as a driver at Knoxville Raceway after winning 11 Knoxville Nationals as a car owner. Smoke beat Deegan and Ernie Francis, Jr. to solidify his early points lead. The series responded to fan feedback and provided a tight, concise telecast which Faux could learn from.
The Roundup was busy with MotoGP/Moto2 talk from Sachsenring and Assen on deck, Supercars at Hidden Valley, DTM at Monza, Indy Lights at Road America, Formula E in Mexico, entry list for the 6 Hours at The Glen, W Series preview with their return at Austria this weekend and a moment or two on BTCC till Phil couldn't get any information handily.
Preview's of the F1 Styrian GP and NASCAR at Pocono along with picks came next before Josh's Sim Segment and calling it an evening.

Phil and Josh return for Episode 65 of the GSP to discuss a busy week of motorsports action. IndyCars at Detroit saw Marcus Ericcson and Pato O'Ward go to victory lane and take a dive into the fountain while Felix Rosenqvist suffered a horrendous crash. The guys go over the winners and the issues for Penske which prevented both Will Power and Josef Newgarden from taking a double at The Captain's home race.
NASCAR ran at Texas with the All-Star debacle dominated by Larson and Hendrick Motorsports. Kyle Busch wins his 99th XFinity race and John Hunter Nemechek continues his dominance in the Truck Series. SRX debuted with six-time NASCAR Modified Tour Champion Doug Coby missing a tour race to win at Stafford Springs. Phil and Josh discuss the racing and the broadcast presentation by CBS in their return to major motorsports coverage in the US.
The Roundup features MotoGP/Moto2, Supercars, Formula E, WEC, IMSA, Indy Lights, BTCC, and WSBK action before the guys preview Paul Ricard for F1, Road America for IndyCar, and NASCAR at Nashville Superspeedway. Phil and Josh return for Episode 64 of the GSP to discuss Checo Perez winning his second career F1 race and first for Red Bull in a somewhat chaotic Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The guys go over how Sergio was able to outlast the two main title combatants, the crazy podium, and what this means for the rest of 2021. Will the Mercedes camp be able to respond at Paul Ricard after two disastrous street course events? How will Max Verstappen fare after another near-miss?
Yung Money's living up to his name by dominating races but now it's in Cup. Larson's first road course win at Snoreoma over two of his title rivals in Clyde and Truex puts the California kid in a position he hasn't been since his K&N days. Is Kyle Larson the favorite with 10 races left in the regular/20 overall? Phil goes off on McDriver after he whines about how he was raced by Bowman and especially Suarez.
XFinity at Mid-Ohio saw AJ Allmendinger get his second win of 2021 and keep himself in contention while Austin Cindric continues to pile up points towards a possible repeat championship. The race presented a unique top-10 finishing result which the guys go over.
A busy GSP Roundup covers MotoGP/Moto2 in Catalunya, F2 in Baku, IMSA and Indy Lights in Detroit, WSBK at Misano, WEC in Portugal and BTCC in Snetterton. After this, SRX is previewed and discussed with their first race at Stafford.
Phil and Josh preview the IndyCar doubleheader at Detroit and make their picks and darkhorse selections plus review the rookie battle. Finally, NASCAR at Texas with a tripleheader ending with the farcical All-Star Race which will be the merciful end of Goosage. Picks for Trucks, XFinity, The Open and the All-Star Race itself provided.

Phil and Josh return for a post-Memorial Day weekend edition of the Grip Strip Podcast to discuss the historic fourth Indianapolis 500 victory for Helio Castro-Neves. The guys go over a clean and intriguing race which saw the likes of Conor Daly and Graham Rahal stand out...till Grahayme's LR tire was left loose. Scott Dixon's issues early with refueling cost him a chance at an elusive second win but Alex Palou carried the CGR banner till the bitter end against the veteran with the upstart team. Phil and Josh go over unsung runs during the day and the points ramifications along with having fans at the track.
NASCAR at Charlotte saw Kyle Larson destroy in the Coca-Cola 600 and giving FF his record-breaking 269th win in the Cup Series to pass Mr. The King and Petty Enterprises/RPM. Ty Gibbs races Chase Briscoe hard and earns his second XFinity win while John Hunter Nemechek continues the KBM clinic in Trucks.
GSP Roundup is short with MotoGP/Moto2 preview in Catalunya before previewing the Azerbaijan Grand Prix for F1 along with picks. Snoreoma and Mid-Ohio for Cup/XFinity respectively also discussed by Phil and Josh along with their picks before Josh's Sim Segment goes over the Chicago street race on iRacing for Cup and the Gen 7.

Phil and Josh return for Episode 62 of the GSP to discuss qualifying and previewing the 105th Indy 500 which saw Scott Dixon qualify on pole for a 4th time. Can Dixon finally secure that elusive second victory? Who are the favorites and wild cards in a generally wide open field?
Formula 1 returned to the Principality of Monaco which saw Max Verstappen take a lights to flag victory after Charles Leclerc's crash in qualifying cost him a chance at winning his home race. Mercedes was noticeably terrible with Lewis Hamilton being non-existent and the team screwing Bottas on pit road.
NASCAR at CoTA was generally a cluster due to rain - especially for the Cup race which had multiple wrecks caused due to spray on the backstretch. The guys discuss safety and what can be changed considering how awful the race and management of the conditions was. The GSP Roundup goes over F2 at Monaco, WSBK at Aragon and Estoril, WRC at Portugal, MotoGP at Mugello, Supercars at Winton and Extreme E in Senegal.
Before Josh's Sim Segment, they preview the Charlotte triple header and who stands out on another cookie-cutter.

Phil and Josh return for Episode 60 of the Grip Strip Podcast to discuss Lewis Hamilton taking down Max Verstappen at Catalunya after securing his 100th pole. The guys get into the strategy and how LH came back after a poor start along with what it means for Red Bull after a 2019 Hungary replay. Midfield battles are starting to become clearer after four rounds and the guys discuss the teams who are up and down along with Egghead.
NASCAR raced at Darlington for throwback weekend with Martin Truex, Jr. dominating on Sunday plus wins for Justin Allgaier and Sheldon Creed in XFinity and Trucks respectively. Discussion about the product and rules package came up after LCD fans complained about how boring the Cup race was. Phil and Josh went into what those wins meant for each driver relative to the playoff situation.
The Round Up discussed MotoGP at Jerez and the upcoming Le Mans races, Supercars at The Bend, Formula E at Monaco, Formula 3 at Catalunya with four American's represented on the grid and IMSA previewed for Mid-Ohio.
2021 NFL Schedule release evening took place and the guys discuss their respective teams 17-game slates including a week 11 battle between Jacksonville and San Francisco. Further previews of this weekends races at Indianapolis GP circuit and initial discussions about the Indianapolis 500 along with NASCAR at Dover took place along with Josh's exploits on iRacing for fixed Indy 500 and NASCAR 1987.

Phil and Josh return for Episode 59 of the GSP to discuss Lewis Hamilton's 97th career F1 win at Portugal along with Kyle Busch making it 17th consecutive years with at least one Cup victory at Kansas and the doubleheader at Texas which saw Scott Dixon (51 wins) and Pato O'Ward (1st win) take the hardware home at one of the worst racetracks on planet Earth.
The guys discuss the battle between Lewis and Max plus Bottas basically disappearing after winning pole along with the midfield battle...oh, Egghead too. 550 rules package nonsense plus Cliff Daniels making his Kyle lose to the other one. The loose wheel issue and how it was handled was mentioned by Phil and Josh too along with Next Gen/G7 car unveil.
IndyCar's at Texas was all about the Grip Strip residue and how treacherous the track conditions were for the drivers while domination ensued with The Iceman leading the lions share of the laps but Pato finally getting that long awaited first IndyCar win and the first for McLaren since 1979. Roundup handles MotoGP at Jerez, Supercars at The Bend, Formula E at Monaco and the start of the Formula 3 season which sees two (became three after recording) American's on the grid.
NFL Draft talk sees Josh's happiness in having a QB/RB combo from Clemson and Phil staying a 49er fan after they brought Trey Lance to the Bay along with other takeaways. Phil and Josh come back for Episode 58 of the Grip Strip Podcast to discuss Colton Herta's dominant win at St. Pete which Josh saw live and in-person. Josh provides his thoughts relative to other series he's seen plus the guys discuss other winners and losers from the weekend. NASCAR continues to provide idiocy and Talladega didn't disappoint in that department.
While Brad Keselowski won the Cup race somehow over DiBenedetto and others, the lack of respect shown in driving standards and unnecessary blocking/wrecks show had Phil seething. Jeb Burton's first win in years connects with Kaulig announcing a move to Cup in 2022.
The absolutely farcical All-Star Race format was announced and the guys went off during the Roundup. F1 Sprint Races, MotoGP, Formula E and WEC were also hit along with the loss of the Canadian GP for a second consecutive year. Picks for Portugal, Texas and Kansas were made too.
Phil and Josh finish with NFL Draft talk...Josh's excitement about Trevor Lawrence and whoever else the Jags are getting is brought down to earth with Phil's dread of the 9ers possibly taking Mac Jones and other needs.

NASCAR's return to dirt at Bristol was not without challenges and those were covered along with how Ah Frig won the race. Trucks raced earlier in the day with that Truax kid from Mayetta, NJ winning his first event in that series.
Roundup consisted of MotoGP and IndyCar talk and then Phil and Josh went in on the San Francisco 49ers trading up to the #3 overall pick for a QB.

Phil and Josh return for Episode 53 of the GSP to preview the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship analyzing each team based on recent form and winter testing. Will Lewis Hamilton become an 8-time World Driver's Champion while getting to the 100/100 mark? Can Max Verstappen finally give LH44 a battle he hasn't had since Rosberg and the nonsense of 2016? Can McLaren get back to their winning ways with The Honey Badger and Lando? Every team gets their time...even PutinHaas.
Afterwards, the guys go into the Atlanta weekend which saw YRB, Allgaier and KyBu win in Cup/XFinity/Trucks. The biggest story was NOWAH (Maria Menounos voice) and his usual nonsense against Daniel Hemric which saw elbows up do a Matrix move and nail NOWAH in the face. Phil and Josh go into detail that won't be heard on other pods.
After cooling down, they discuss the 12 Hours of Sebring with The French Connection winning overall along with an upset in GTLM but plenty of Porsche power at one of their great stomping grounds. The Roundup went over one of those overall winners and his new major sponsor in IndyCar along with Indy 500 entry list talk plus MotoGP preview after Marc Marquez was ruled out for Qatar.
