Grip Strip Podcast Episode 7: Formula 1 Preview Part 1 and NASCAR News Aplenty

Phil and Josh start previewing the upcoming 2020 Formula 1 World Championship this week by going over Williams, Haas, Alfa Romeo and Racing Point.  They discuss prospects for those teams and the rules changes that are coming along in this interesting year.  Also, Phil and Josh go over the events at Homestead, the announcement of Bristol holding the All-Star Race (plus other adjustments) along with possible schedule changes as well.  

Grip Strip Podcast Episode 6 - Dixon and Harvick Domination Plus Other Key Stories

Phil and Josh discuss Scott Dixon winning the IndyCar season-opening Genesys 300 at Texas Motor Speedway along with some of the keys issues and events that took place for the one-day show.  Also, Phil and Josh go over the Atlanta triple-header weekend which saw Kevin Harvick win his second race of 2020 along with victories by AJ Allmendinger and Grant Enfinger in Xfinity and Trucks.  Recent events brought up issues with police brutality and protesting which Phil and Josh took time on that before previewing the Martinsville Cup and Homestead races this weekend.  

Grip Strip Podcast Episode 5.1: Nashville Superspeedway is Back...Why? Bristol and Charlotte II Recaps Too

Phil and Josh bring on Talking in Circles Host and Frontstretch writer Clayton Caldwell and Phil's buddy Josh Billiter (aka Pork Roll...you'll get the reference once you listen) to discuss Nashville Superspeedway being reintroduced after a 10-year absence and getting a Cup date from Dover in the process.  The four provide their thoughts on this development relative to the racing product in the past and what is around currently.  They move on to discuss the Alsco 500k which saw William Clyde Elliott II win his first Cup race of 2020 which was followed by Brad Keselowski benefiting from Clyde's error late to win his second Cup race of 2020 at the Supermarket Sweep 500 at Bristol.  The group finishes with a recap of Noah Gragson's Cheddar's 300 win at Bristol.  On the way out, the guys discuss the triple-header weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway and who to look for in each of the races.  Give it a listen and let us know what you think!

Phil and Josh invite Open-Wheels.com owner and noted sim racer Tanner Watkins on the GSP to deep dive into the start of the 2020 NTT Data IndyCar Series.  They go over the transition to Roger Penske owning Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the IndyCar series, key driver changes and the rookie battle.  Phil, Josh and Tanner also discuss sim racing and the iRacing Invitational in detail.

Josh and Phil discuss Sunday's The Real Heroes 400 which saw Kevin Harvick win his 50th Cup race in the first NASCAR race in 10 weeks.  They go over key players during the day including Hendrick Motorsports and what was going on with Gibbs and Penske.  Standout performances by rookies and returning veterans alike along with a discussion on back-marker teams.  Josh and Phil also preview the XFinity race that will be run Thursday afternoon along with the Toyota 500.

Phil comes back from the Easter break to discuss sim racing with fellow Motorsports fan Josh Huffine who has experience with iRacing. Phil and Josh discuss the racing so far and some of the controversies that have transpired: Most notably, Kyle Larson ending himself and Bubba Wallace and what it truly means about the product and how it's being handled. Afterwards, Phil and Josh do evals on their favorite football teams with the NFL Draft just over a week away.
